Archaeologists find what they think is a statue of the mythical half-man, half-beast. They put it on display in a New York museum. Later, strange deaths in the sewers and ultimately, it has to be believed that the Minotaur has come back to life and has found a new purpose.

When Howard, a mild-mannered history teacher, has a fatal accident while attending a fundraising fete for the High School football team “the Vikings”, he arrives in Valhalla and not heaven.
Realising this is a mistake, Odin asks God to take Howard to Heaven, but the “God Contract” forbids the transfer, each religion and its followers protected from being poached or undermined. There is no alternative but to train Howard in Viking ways. Then, God has thought of a “get out” and, with Odin’s approval, executes it. Not a switch to heaven but a return to his home. The difference now, though, is that the once-mild-mannered Howard is a Viking.
