Duet: Palmerly & Violet

By Lynda Fletcher

Finding true love is important but social and family needs create pressure to conform to society's expectations of a good match. In two separate stories, the young ladies question their hearts against a sense of duty and whether love is fiction in books or can it be found in real life. In "Palmerly", Anne is drawn to the new schoolmaster, but his station in life is far below hers. In "Violet", she is desired by her father to accept a proposal of marriage in order to protect the estate from being passed on to a distant relative on his death but her heart belongs to another and he hasn't proposed.

Fortune and Misfortune

By Lynda Fletcher

In the glittering drawing rooms of Regency society, where marriages are made and reputations rest upon a dance and a carefully turned phrase, two people of uncommon intelligence are determined to escape the marriage market's trap - each setting impossible standards they're certain no one can meet.

George Kingham, a wealthy landowner of considerable pride and sharper wit, believes himself safe behind his demands for intellectual partnership. He has never met a woman capable of matching him... until he does, in the most unexpected moment, across a ballroom floor.

Lady Juliana Brackley refuses to settle for the conventional exchange of wealth and status. She seeks a partner who respects her mind as much as her person, someone who will discuss literature and philosophy over tea, not merely secure her financial future. She considers such men a myth... until she encounters one who infuriates and intrigues her in equal measure.
But when George mistakes her easy companionship with another for romantic attachment, he flees. When Juliana sees him devoted to someone else, her hopes crumble.

What follows is a collision of misunderstandings, missed connections, and the slow, painful recognition that the heart often knows the truth long before the rational mind is willing to admit it.

Through grand balls and intimate conversations, through the interference of well-meaning relatives and the complications of unwanted proposals, George and Juliana must finally confront the one obstacle they cannot overcome through wit or willfulness: their own vulnerability.

For readers who believe that true love requires meeting of minds, that wit is its own form of intimacy, and that sometimes the person who infuriates you most is the one you were always meant to find.

The Wheezy Geezers

By Dan Cavanaugh

Welcome to The Wheezy Geezers, an Old English Public House where the air is thick with woodsmoke and the stories are even thicker.

Within these pages, you will find a collection of ten tall tavern tales told by "tanked twilight tipplers" and collected for the curious eavesdropper.

Prepare to encounter a world that frequently defies rational explanation and violates the very laws of nature.

Whether these stories are "gospel," the result of too much Somerset cider, or "outside assistance" from the supernatural, they represent the heart of village life and the unique hospitality of the local pub.

So, pull up a chair, mind your head on the low beams, and prepare to question everything you thought you knew about the nature of time and the courtesy of strangers.

I hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as I did when writing them.
